Dr Adrian Kat
Dr Adrian Kat graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1993 and commenced private practice in Applecross the following year. Early in his career, he gained valuable international experience working in a combined NHS and private practice in Hammersmith, London, before returning to Perth in 1999 to continue his father’s dental practice in Morley.
In 2001, Dr Kat began placing dental implants, undertaking formal training with the International Team for Implantology (ITI) in Switzerland. On his return to Australia, he pursued extensive implant education under Dr Patrick Henry at the Branemark Centre (Nobel Biocare), along with further training both locally and internationally. This commitment to continual learning has remained a defining feature of his career.
Throughout the early 2000s, Dr Kat also developed a strong interest in cosmetic dentistry, recognising the significant role it plays in addressing both the appearance and function of patients’ teeth. Over the next 15 years, he travelled regularly to the United States and Europe to learn from internationally recognised clinicians in this field, including Dr Bill Dorfman, the Las Vegas Institute (LVI), Christian Coachman, and Florin Cofar. These experiences informed his clinical approach across aesthetic and restorative dentistry.
The integration of implant dentistry and advanced cosmetic techniques naturally led to a focus on full-mouth rehabilitation. Nearly two decades ago, under the mentorship of many leaders in the field including Professor Paulo Malo, Dr Patrick Henry and Dr Glen Liddelow, Dr Kat began providing full-arch implant solutions using the All-on-4 concept for patients with failing dentition or those seeking fixed alternatives to dentures. To support this level of care, he developed a dedicated team including anaesthetists, laboratory technicians and clinical support staff to ensure safety, precision and predictability.
As demand for advanced implant and restorative treatment grew, Dr Kat and his wife, Jo, relocated the practice to West Perth to create a purpose-designed clinical environment. What began as a small team of five has grown steadily, guided not by a desire to be the largest practice, but by a commitment to carefully structured systems and consistent patient outcomes.
Recognising the importance of public education, Dr Kat launched a YouTube channel in 2011 to share insights into modern dentistry. The channel has since reached almost six million views, helping patients better understand their options and make informed decisions about their care.
Today, Dr Kat’s work remains centred on implant and cosmetic rehabilitation, with an increasing emphasis on patient experience and mentoring other dentists. Over three decades in practice, he has treated thousands of patients, continually refining surgical protocols, restorative systems and treatment planning processes to enhance predictability and long-term success.
