I need all of my teeth fixed

Often, dental problems can run deeper than just the appearance.  You may have a mix of loose, missing or broken teeth, functional issues, or concerns about aesthetics. This is why our integrative treatment planning philosophy is so important.

Our aim is to address your general oral health, your bite, any damaged or missing teeth to create a smile that works well and looks great with manageable maintenance and longevity in mind.

Treatment Options

Are you experiencing any of these concerns?

  • Heavily broken down or decayed teeth
  • Loose teeth, or multiple missing teeth
  • Chronic gum and bone disease
  • Ongoing jaw and bite problems

For patients with multiple areas of concern, there can be two main treatment pathways:

  • Full mouth reconstruction, using a combination of dental implants and porcelain veneers (keep and restore natural teeth where viable)
  • All-On-4 treatment (complete replacement)

Your recommended pathway will be developed in consultation with you based on your dental condition and your smile goals. For a more personal idea, we invite you to have a consultation with our team at our West Perth clinic.

Key Details

  • All-On-4: 3-4 weeks of planning, then a new set of temporary teeth is inserted within 4 days after your surgery.  You use these teeth so we can assess aesthetics, bite, function, speech and more and make any refinements before your final bridges are inserted around 5-6 months after surgery.
  • Full mouth reconstruction: 6 weeks – 12 months.
  • All-On-4 – This is not a quick fix procedure – there are important aftercare instructions and new habits that must be followed to ensure success. With good oral hygiene you can expect your All-On-4 implants to last a lifetime, with the bridge to be replaced after 5-7 years (or possibly longer depending on materials chosen).
  • Single dental implant – Implant usually lasts a lifetime, with the implant crown to be replaced every 10-15 years.
  • Porcelain reconstructive work – 10-15 years.
  • Carefully follow the hygiene and healing recommendations suggested during and after your treatment.
  • Adopt recommended habits for maintaining oral health.
  • Wear your nightguard to protect the teeth from clenching and grinding in your sleep.
  • Attend regular hygiene visits (every 6 months).
  • Avoid smoking and/or vaping.
  • For the comfort of our clients, All-On-4 treatment is carried out under IV Sedation (with a specialist anaesthetist). You may experience some discomfort during the immediate post-operative stage, but we will provide you with the care, medication and tools to get through this time comfortably. Your wellbeing is our top priority.
  • For full mouth reconstruction, there are a number of sedation options.
  • Past patients can also add some information about their personal experiences, so we are happy to share their journeys with you.
  • After All-On-4 surgery, the typical recovery time is a 1-2 weeks. We advise patients to take this time off work from Monday or Tuesday (surgery) through Thursday (insert) and until Sunday for rest. Some patients will take an additional week off, because that’s how long it takes for possible swelling to go down. However, the additional week is at your discretion since you know best how well your body usually recovers and heals. We can supply a medical certificate for the time required to recover.
  • It takes 4 months for the implants to fully integrate with the bone. During this time, we will have a series of follow up appointments and you will be on a soft food diet (food you can cut with a spoon). At the 4-month mark, once everything is healed, your dentist will give you the go ahead to eat all the foods you love again!
  • For full mouth reconstruction, treatment may be completed progressively over a period of months, depending on your circumstances. After each treatment visit, you can expect 1-2 days of recovery. You may sedate for your appointment and take some pre-sedation medication the night before, but unfortunately this means you cannot drive to and from your appointment. We also advise taking your treatment day and the next day off work, as you may still be under the effects of the medication. We can supply a medical certificate for the time required in order to recover.
  • Permanent and irreversible: Implants are a permanent solution, where patients are unable to return to having natural teeth once treatment begins.
  • Implant failure: There are both avoidable (medical conditions, smoking and heavy grinding) and unavoidable (3-5% of cases worldwide) implant failures. Implant failures can be addressed by your dentist, but are most likely to be managed effectively when identified early, which is why ongoing hygiene and reviews are necessary.
  • Complex treatment: Implant and full mouth procedures require complex processes where complications can arise and the experience of your treating dentist, anaesthetist and team is critical.
  • Rushed consent and planning: Completely understanding your treatment is essential. Proper planning also ensures functional speech and eating abilities, alongside achieving desired aesthetic outcomes. Rushing this process can be detrimental to your treatment success.
  • Being unprepared for ongoing maintenance: Regular appointments are needed to maintain the desired treatment outcome, and patients must factor in the time and costs required in the future, as well as bridge replacement.
  • Bridges and crowns are durable, but they are not indestructible. There is a risk of chipping or breakage, particularly if the bridge or crown is subjected to excessive force or pressure. This is why it is critical to wear a nightguard to prevent wear and tear.
