Teeth Gaps?

Whether you have multiple gaps or a single gap between your teeth, closing these spaces can change the function and aesthetics of your smile for the better.

Gapped teeth can also be an oral health risk, as trapped food can cause decay and gum issues.

Treatment Options

Your recommended pathway will be developed in consultation with you and considers your specific situation and goals.  We invite you to a consultation with our team at our West Perth clinic, where our integrative approach to treatment planning will outline your possible options.

Generally, to address gappy teeth, you have two main options available to you.

porcelain reconstruction

Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin, custom-made, and are bonded directly to the teeth. Veneers will allow us to close spaces, and transform the size, shape, colour and position of your teeth.

When using veneers to close gaps, attention to detail during the design process is essential, to prevent the teeth from appearing overly large. Our in-depth design process takes this into consideration, for a functional, aesthetically pleasing and proportionate smile.

Orthodontics

Metal or clear aligners will move your natural teeth into the correct position and bite. They have a similar completion times.. Clear aligners use computer technology to create your custom made aligners, each with a minor adjustment to the last. By wearing the aligner trays, your teeth are exposed to a gradual force which moves them into the ideal position.

If you are happy with the size, shape and physical appearance of your teeth, then this may be a good option.

Please note: Advanced Dental Artistry does not provide these services, but can refer you to a trusted provider if you want this treatment in combination with treatment completed at our clinic.

The reality is many dental procedures cause discomfort of differing levels depending on the type and severity of the procedure. Our priority is to ensure that you are as comfortable as possible throughout all procedures. We also offer the option of sedation if you would prefer to sleep during treatment due to nerves or lengthy appointments.  Pain relief and other tools are available.

  • You may experience a little sensitivity and tenderness after your preparation and insert appointments, but should be able to go about your day as usual. We can recommend adequate pain relief so you are comfortable during and after these appointments.
  • If you have chosen to sedate for your appointment, you will take some pre-sedation medication the night before, but unfortunately this means you cannot drive to and from your appointment, and potentially the next day. We also advise taking your treatment day and the next day off work as you may be still be under the effects of the medication. We can supply a medical certificate for the time required in order to recover.
  • Veneers require a small amount of enamel removal from the natural tooth surface for placement of the veneer. This alteration is irreversible.
  • Porcelain veneers are durable, but they are not indestructible. There is a risk of chipping or breakage, particularly if the veneers are subjected to excessive force or pressure. This is why it is critical to wear a nightguard to prevent wear and tear.
  • Ongoing maintenance is needed to maintain the desired treatment outcome, and patients must factor in the time and costs required in the future.
