ARE YOUR EXISTING DENTAL COSMETICS WORN OUT?

When replacing older cosmetic dental work, each case is planned individually, considering factors such as bite alignment, tooth wear, and the condition of existing restorations. In some cases, treatment may involve updating veneers alone, while others may require a broader functional approach to support long-term stability.

Treatment Options

When planning for any cosmetic case, it is important to discover the foundations of your existing teeth. This is especially important in cases where dental treatment has been placed for many years. We want to ensure the stability of your teeth is ready for updated cosmetics and if not, plan for any work required to get your foundations healthy again, for long term treatment success.

Treatment Planning

Based on this discovery, we can then prepare a treatment plan for you. Your new porcelain can be made to the exact shape of your current cosmetics or if you would like to improve on your current cosmetics or would like a change, we can create a new smile design for you. Usually if you have already had porcelain or composite restorations, similar treatment is required as part of your new design, but you may decide to include additional teeth for a more complete result.

Smile Design

We closely analyse your mouth and facial features using a combination of digital scans and close-up photographs. We then artfully design your new and updated porcelain veneers, considering your bite, unique facial landmarks, midlines, smile width and any other conditions or concerns.

Key Details

Porcelain Veneers: 6-8 weeks.

Porcelain Veneers: 10 to 20+ years, when combined with aftercare.

  • Wear your night guard to protect the teeth from night-time clenching and grinding.
  • Attend regular hygiene visits (every 6 months).
  • Avoid smoking and/or vaping.

The reality is many dental procedures cause discomfort of differing levels depending on the type and severity of the procedure. Our priority is to ensure that you are as comfortable as possible throughout all procedures. We also offer the option of sedation if you would prefer to sleep during treatment due to nerves or lengthy appointments.

  • You may experience a little sensitivity and tenderness after your preparation and insert appointments, but should be able to go about your day as usual. We can recommend adequate pain relief so you are comfortable during and after these appointments.
  • If you have chosen to sedate for your appointment, you will take some pre-sedation medication the night before, but unfortunately this means you cannot drive to and from your appointment, and potentially the next day. We also advise taking your treatment day and the next day off work as you may be still be under the effects of the medication. We can supply a medical certificate for the time required in order to recover.

Veneers require a small amount of enamel removal from the tooth surface for placement. This alteration is irreversible.
