If you have crooked or crowded teeth, not only may you find this displeasing but they may cause functional issues as well. Often, when teeth are overcrowded or crooked, this can cause an unusual bit. The result is often pain and discomfort in the jaw, neck, and head. Additionally, the health of your teeth is at risk as they are harder to clean and floss properly.
Hi, it's surgeon Kat from Advanced Dental Artistry here in West Perth. I’m just going to do a smile makeover case actually on Chanel. She actually came to see me before she was getting married. This is a case where you can see, she's got a lot of crowding of the teeth due to lack of space and the central teeth are actually quite butterflied where the corners kick out. This is just a before portrait of her here. She's a bit shy smiling for the camera, but I'll tell a couple of jokes and she can actually start smiling, and here we can actually start to see where the teeth are, and actually see we're taking a lot of photos here. There's a lot of planning going on with this case. We're going to be doing gum lifts and porcelain veneers. So from here, what we do is we did some whitening. You can see the teeth are definitely whiter than the original photo, and now we've actually done treatment and this is the trial smile. So we've got a new set of temporary teeth in there. I know that she's very happy with the results. Here's Libby doing a shade match of the teeth and this is the next day, she's coming just for us to actually see how the trial smile's going with her, she's happy with them.
Really, what we want is a lot of feedback from patients, we really want them to tell us how they feel about the trial smile. Are they happy with it? Do they want any changes, color, or the shape of the teeth? Generally, if we planned everything well, there's only very minor changes which we need to do. She was actually just telling us here that one tooth is slightly different from the other on the canines. This is the porcelain. This is actually just straight out the furnace they're pressed and this is the porcelain on the models. This is the porcelain actually in Chanel's mouth, she's actually having a new look at them and a very close up video of her teeth. You can see that her upper lip is numb. The next day she comes in for the review and there's the portrait. There's a portrait of her before and after. Grab some video here and we'll show you a before and after video, just to show you the end result.
Every dental case of crooked or crowded teeth is different, and we will need to see you for a personalised consultation, but as a general rule you have two main options available to you:
Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin, custom-made porcelain laminates that are bonded directly to the teeth. Veneers will allow us to transform the size, shape, position and colour of your teeth.
These invisible aligners will move your natural teeth into the correct position and bite. If you are happy with the size, shape and physical appearance of your teeth, then this is an ideal option.
The reality is many dental procedures cause discomfort of differing levels depending on the type and severity of the procedure.
Our priority is to ensure you are as comfortable as possible throughout all procedures. We also offer the option of sedation if you would prefer to sleep during treatment due to nerves or lengthy appointments.

Lydia came to us with crooked teeth and wanted a quick solution that was also aesthetically pleasing. Typically for case like this a treatment like Invisalign would be used. Unfortunately, Lydia works in an industry where braces or aligners are an unappealing option, and wouldn’t necessarily provide the exact end-goal she was after, we went with a faster, more aesthetically appealing option.
