Porcelain Veneers Procedures

What are porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers are shells made from superfine ceramic porcelain that are bonded to your teeth by a specialist dentist – giving you a flawless smile and helping your teeth function better.

Veneers sometimes get a bad rap for looking unnatural or bulky. But the latest tech means we can design them digitally for maximum precision, giving you choice and control over the size, shape and positioning. Then they’re crafted by hand for all that delicate lifelike detail – so they look like your actual teeth (only better).

Are veneers bad for your teeth?

Actually, quite the opposite. Veneers aren’t just good-looking. They can strengthen and restore function to your natural teeth – no more anxiety when you’re faced with chomping into that juicy burger.

How are porcelain veneers applied and right for me?

That depends on a few factors. We need to assess the condition of your teeth, how you want your new smile to look, and how much of a rush you’re in.

But as a general rule, veneers are a great option to fix the look of gappy, chipped, discoloured or misaligned teeth. They’re also effective in treating severe grinding, overbites and underbites, and overcrowding – to name just a few. What about teeth whitening? Can veneers fix my stained or discoloured teeth?

If you have one or more tooth that is severely yellowed or discoloured and isn’t responding to traditional whitening treatments,  you probably have what we call ‘intrinsic staining’.  Unlike surface stains, these are caused by internal factors like disease, overexposure to fluoride or thinning enamel due to ageing.

In this case, veneers can work brilliantly. We use high-tech colour-matching, seamlessly integrating your veneers with the rest of your smile while covering the discoloured bits.

What’s better: Invisalign vs Porcelain veneers?

Need a straighter smile? You might be weighing Invisalign up against porcelain veneers. Invisalign can be a fairly simple way to get straighter teeth, with a clear aligner helping to fix over or underbites.

But if you’re looking to solve multiple problems – like discolouration, tooth damage, or gaps – veneers are your best. There’s also less for you to worry about. Once they’re in, they can last for decades and won’t move – no need for you to remember to wear your aligners around the clock.

What veneers are the best – porcelain or composite?

Composite veneers are made from composite resin, while porcelain veneers are crafted from ultra-thin ceramic porcelain.

Composite veneers are a little cheaper. But when it comes to durability and look, porcelain is the clear winner. The wafer-thin shape gives a super natural look – nothing like those bulky, horselike veneers of old! They’re also less resistant to chipping and staining, looking good for longer while saving you over the long haul.

Veneers – is it painful?

Dental anxiety is real – and it’s natural to worry about pain or discomfort when undergoing procedures. Fortunately, we offer a range of sedation and numbing options to help you feel comfortable and relaxed throughout your treatments.

If you suffer from dental anxiety, it can be helpful to remove common triggers. Think noise-cancelling headphones to drown out any noises while allowing you to zone out to music or essential oils for a day spa-like feel.

Do veneers look natural?

This is a question we hear a lot. After all, no one wants their smile to look fake, bulky or “too much”.

Here’s the good news: when done well, your porcelain veneers should look 100% natural, mimicking the characteristics of natural enamel and reflecting light in the same way a natural tooth would.

Unfortunately, if your smile isn’t precision-designed to suit your facial features, or your technician doesn’t craft your veneers with care, cosmetic work can indeed look unnatural or bulky.

Creating a natural smile requires a delicate blend of design, customisation, skill, and attention to detail. That’s why our team is highly specialised, trained in the latest technology while trusted by our Perth clients for decades.

What are the benefits of veneers?

Great question. The truth is, the benefits extend far beyond stronger, more uniform teeth. Patients are often surprised at just how transformative a set of porcelain veneers can be.

Confidence is a big one. The ability to smile openly, with pride and genuine joy, can do wonders for your self-esteem. We often hear our patients tell us how much they love that they can now smile and laugh freely, take selfies, or capture special moments with their family and friends. They feel like they’re no longer missing out on life and all its defining moments.

Others report more confidence in the workforce, communicating more clearly, connecting with colleagues (without needing to hide their smiles), or finally being able to public speak.

If you’ve been guilty of neglecting your oral health, a set of porcelain veneers also gives you the chance to start afresh. You’ll have stronger teeth and reduce the need for whitening going forward, inspiring you to continue to care for your beautiful new smile.

Why you’ll love Porcelain Veneers

There are plenty of reasons why our patients love porcelain veneers… But here are six of the ones we hear the most!

How many veneers should I get?

That depends on the state of your teeth and how you want your smile to look. Many of our patients opt for 4-10 veneers for a transformative smile makeover. Some patients need just one to fix a troublesome tooth, while others want a complete set of both arches.

While we can’t answer this definitively without seeing you, you’re welcome to book a complimentary phone consultation, where we can discuss what a smile makeover could look like for you.

How long will my veneers last?

Part of the appeal of porcelain veneers is that your beautiful smile will last. With proper care and regular dental visits, you can expect your porcelain veneers to last up to 20 years. A great investment in your ability to smile freely!

Are veneers expensive? How much do veneers cost?

Think of it more as an investment – in your confidence, health and freedom. The investment per veneer at our clinic is $2.35K. This includes our high-tech digital design and comprehensive trial smile process, as well as a dedicated team of specialists with over two decades of transforming smiles across Perth.

But we also understand that a major financial investment is never one you should make lightly. That’s why our services include a financial wellbeing consultant to provide support and discuss your options – including self-funding, personal lending or accessing superannuation. You can chat about this in more detail in your free phone consultation.
